The engine is not max revved at 55-60 mph. The bike should go up to a round 100mph. When your at 60mph, pull in the clutch and let engine rpms drop. If the vibration goes away it's the engine, if it doesn't you have a wheel balance or bearing problem. Save Share.
Hit up Craigslist and look for some used 80s/90s cruisers. Honda Shadows, Kawasaki Vulcans, careful of the Viragos though they have starter issues. Suzuki has a good set of cruisers that have been around for 20+ years. You could easily find something ready-to-ride for under 2 grand usually.
The idea with a small, powerless bike is that the bike itself can't get the rider into trouble. A heavy 1100 is not an ideal beginner bike by a long shot. It's survivable, but it's still not recommended. A light 250 is better. But not everyone prioritizes these things that way, and to each his own.
